Editing Transactions

You can edit the merchant name, category, date, notes, and tags fields on a transaction. You can also split, hide, mark for review, or delete a transaction and upload attachments.

To do this, click on any transaction to expand it and update the field in question.

You have two options if you need to edit multiple transactions at a time:

  • You can edit multiple transactions at once. On web, select “Edit multiple” or on mobile select the checkbox icon, and then select the checkboxes for the transactions you'd like to edit!
  • You can also create a transaction rule. For instance, if you'd like to re-categorize all your Nordstrom transactions from the Shopping category to Clothing, you can do so from the Settings > Rules page, or directly from the transaction itself: whenever you edit a transaction, you will get a pop-up that invites you to save your action as a custom rule. You can review your custom rules here.

To hide a transaction, expand the transaction and toggle the Hide option. Hiding a transaction will remove it from your Budget calculations, as well as from the Spending trends on the Cash Flow page. However, it will continue to appear in your Transaction list and the Transaction search.

Bonus tip!

Have transactions from the same merchant coming in with multiple variations of the merchant name? Use Settings > Merchant to merge the names.

Editing pending transactions

By default, pending transactions cannot be edited. To allow edits on pending transactions, go to Settings > Preferences and toggle on Allow edits to pending transactions.

Edits made to a pending transaction may be lost once the final version posts from your bank, since finalized transactions can come through as a new entry. For this reason, we generally recommend leaving this setting off.

Deleting transactions

To delete a transaction, open Transactions and select the transaction to expand it.

  • On web: Scroll to the bottom of the details panel and select Delete transaction.
  • On mobile: Tap the three-dot menu in the top right, then select Delete transaction.

To delete multiple transactions at once, on web select Edit multiple, check the transactions you want to remove, then select Edit > Delete transactions.
