Monarch was designed with households in mind! You can invite one or more members of your household to get a joint view of your finances, all under a single subscription. Each person will have their own login, but can view each other’s data and contribute their own accounts and transactions to a shared space. Each household will share one dashboard and have the same view and budget, but each member can personalize their own notification settings and add their own accounts and transactions to the shared household space.

Household Roles
Each household can include three types of collaborators:
- Admin (Owner): The person who set up the household. Admins can manage members, the subscription, and billing.
- Member: The role for other household participants (e.g., spouse, partner, family member). Members can set up their own views and customize certain settings.
- Professional (Advisor/Planner): An optional role for financial professionals, offering access to client data with appropriate privacy settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I invite someone to my household account?
You can invite users from the Household Members Settings page. You'll each get your own login, but have the same level of visibility and access to manage accounts, transactions, and budgets. Read more on how to invite your partner here.
Note: You are unable to invite someone who has an existing Monarch account. They will need to use a different email address and start a new account, or delete their existing Monarch Money account to be eligible for an invite.
Do we both have to pay for Monarch?
No, everyone in your household will be under the same single subscription. If you log in and see that you are not in the same household, it is likely that you didn't complete the sign-up through the invite link and inadvertently created a second separate account. You can delete your account and sign up again through your partner's invitation link.
How can I tell if accounts or transactions belong to me or my partner?
Shared Views allows you to assign ownership to accounts and transactions, making it simple to personalize what you see without losing sight of the bigger picture.
Can I hide an account or transaction from my household members?
You cannot hide bank accounts or transactions in Monarch. Once you invite your partner, parent, child, etc., to your household, they will be able to view all connected bank accounts and transactions.
How can I add or remove a household member? Can I update which user is the primary family manager?
Members can be removed by the household owner or by themselves (this can be done in the "Members" settings). To change which household member is the family manager, please open a support ticket. NOTE: When a member is removed, any accounts that were added under their login will be removed as well.
How can I track spending with a household member in Monarch?
There are many ways you can break down your spending together. For instance, partners can use Shared Views or custom categories to review transactions and view cash flow per person or together. You can also work towards your shared financial goals together by assigning your accounts to goals.
