Frequently Asked Questions
How does my financial professional get access to my Monarch account?
There are two ways a professional can access your account:
- Sponsored access — Your professional invites you to Monarch and covers the cost of your subscription. You will receive an invitation from your professional and can accept it using the link or code they send you. Once accepted, they will have full access to your household, including your budgets, transactions, goals, and investments.
- Access only grant — If you already have a paid Monarch subscription, you can grant your professional temporary access without them covering your subscription cost. To do this, select Settings > Members > Give access to a financial professional and enter their email address. Access automatically expires after one year and can be revoked at any time.
What can my financial professional see in my account?
When a professional has access to your account, they can view and edit the same information you see, including your budgets, transactions, goals, goal forecasts, and investments. However, they cannot connect financial accounts on your behalf.
How does my financial professional manage their clients in Monarch?
Financial professionals manage their clients through a separate advisor portal. From there, they can send invitations, track client relationships, and manage sponsorships. They do not have access to your account data until you have accepted their invitation and the sponsorship is active.
Does my financial professional cover my Monarch subscription cost?
If you are sponsored by your professional, they cover the cost of your Monarch subscription for as long as the sponsorship is active. If you already paid for a subscription before becoming sponsored, any remaining time will be applied to your account as credits. If they end the sponsorship, you will need to set up your own subscription to continue using Monarch.
How do I apply a code from my financial professional?
If your financial professional has sent you a professional code:
- Log in to the Monarch web app.
- Select Settings > Billing.
- Select Manage subscription.
- Select Add a promo code and enter the code they have provided.
Can I revoke my professional’s access?
Yes. You can revoke access at any time by selecting Settings > Members and removing their access. If your financial professional is sponsoring your subscription, ending the relationship will also end their coverage of your Monarch subscription. To continue using Monarch, you can start your own subscription under Settings > Billing > Manage subscription.
